Jason & Megan's Wedding

Chris' cousin Jason got married last weekend in Kearney. We decided to take a mini-vacation and go and spend the weekend in a hotel. It was a fun quick trip. We were terrible about taking pictures. But here are a few that we got.

When we got to the wedding Ian was super tired. The hotel we stayed in had a little water park in it so he swam hard Friday night and Saturday morning. So as soon as we got to the wedding he laid his head down and was sound asleep. This is right before he closed his eyes.

Ian had a little birthday party for all of his friends at our house a couple of weeks ago. I don't think I really knew what it would be like to have twelve 4, 5, and 6 year olds. But I think they all had a good time - I know Ian sure did!

It was a dinosaur themed birthday party. This is the special cake I had made. I think it turned out great and Ian loved it.

Kindergarten Physical

We had Ian's kindergarten physical this morning. It was the last thing to do on the list in order to be "ready" for kindergarten. It was pretty simple since he was already up on all of his shots and he already had a vision exam. So he got his hearing checked and the normal routine done.

Here's his stats at 5 years old.

Height: 46" - 94%
Weight: 54lbs - 97%

The doctor said "Ian is just a big boy!" That is very true!

Ian is looking forward to starting kindergarten. We are looking forward to him starting this new journey but also a little sad. Just so hard to believe he's so old already.

Robin Hood

Today is the Day! Robin Hood opens in theaters.

We've been informed by the lawyer that for sure Chris' song is in the movie, Robin Hood. A friend of Chris' saw a pre-screening and heard it with his own ears. I must say this is a very exciting day. I don't think many people can say that they have a song in a blockbuster movie like this and it amazes me that my husband does! I know music is a passion of Chris' but I think this takes it to a new level for him. The Killigans have done a lot of great things and I see much success in their future. I'm so very proud of my husband for so many things but I have to say that this is quite an accomplishment. Just for fun google Chris Nebesniak and you'll see his name appear under the yahoo credits for the movie - SO COOL!!!

Farm

We spent the Saturday before Mother's Day with my mom on the farm. While we were there a light bulb needed changed at the very top of a tower (I know it has a specific name but I can't remember what's it's called.). Ian went to the very top to help!

They forgot a screwdriver to change out the light so I headed up. When Ian was on his way up I really did not think much about it but once I was at the top I was quite nervous and was thinking maybe I should not have let my 5 year old all the way up here. My stomach was a ball of nerves until all our feet were on the ground! But Ian was never really scared at all.

Omaha Zoo

Last week our daycare was closed one day so we took the opportunity to visit the Omaha Zoo. Kind of a little birthday trip for Ian and fun family time! Ian loves the zoo and I think Chris and I do to - just never know what you'll see those monkeys doing!

Ian - 5 years old!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAN!

As I type this Ian is sound asleep a few feet away on the couch. It makes me get teary eyed thinking about my baby being 5 years old. Time just goes way to fast.

Ian was born on Monday, May 10th at 8:08pm and was 9 weeks early. Even though Ian was so early and a little sick those first weeks of his life we knew everything would work out and now we have this wonderful boy.

We went to Kindergarten roundup last week and it was a bitter sweet moment thinking about sending him to school. He's so ready to go and learn so much stuff but I just have a hard time thinking he's so big.


A few things about Ian at 5 years old:


-He loves to talk. It does not matter who you are or where we are - he's going to be talking to someone. I wonder sometimes where he gets this because Chris and I are not always that open to talk to others but man Ian makes friends wherever he is because he's always talking to someone.


-He questions everything. Why we do stuff? What stuff means? Why he has to do things? For the most part it is amazing he's so interested and I know he's always learning but it can be challenging when he's questioning our parenting.


-He loves his little brother. Chris said is best a couple of months ago. He said "I don't know which one of the boys adores the other more." It's totally true. Ian is the only one that can get Borne to belly laugh. Borne is always looking for his big brother and watches him all of the time. Ian is so helpful with Borne and I know it will be so much fun when they can really start playing together.


-He is very creative. He's always building things with his LEGO's or drawing pictures of different stuff. It's amazing how a 5 year old's mind works and I hope he can keep some of this creativity forever.


-He loves to read. Chris reads to Ian most nights and they are just finishing up The Hobbit. He loves reading about all kinds of things and I know he learning so much every time he picks up a book.


-He does not like to get up the morning - Who Does! Most morning we have to try and wake him up many times and often we have to give his hands and feet a rub before he'll get up. I can't blame him I often request this of Chris as well. Always a great way to wake up in the morning.


Those are just a few of the things about Ian at 5 years of age. He's a great little boy! He often pushes the limits like any little kid but for the most part we have it easy with him. And you can't help but love him when he flashes that smile and those blue eyes at you! He just grabs your heart!

Half Marathon

Half Marathon

Chris and I survived the half marathon. I ran pretty slow but I ran the entire race which is what I wanted to do so that makes me happy. Maybe next time I'll train to run it faster!!

There were lots of people out cheering us on which was very nice! Amy, Pat, Linda (Amy's mom), Deni, Kael, Kathy, Scott (Amy's brother), Alexis (Scott's daughter) were some of them that cheered for us whenever they saw us. They even made some fun signs that we got to take home!!

Frist Zoo Visit

A couple weeks ago Ian, Borne and myself went to the zoo for the first time this season. It was the Friday after it opened so it was packed but we had a great time. These are the only pictures I of the day - mainly because I wanted to show Chris the grasshopper! It's always fun in the bug house!
