15 months old!

On January 13th Borne turned 15 months.  This little guy keeps us super busy but makes our lives a lot of fun.

At his 15 month visit his measuerments were:
Height: 31 3/4 inches (74%)
Weight: 22.2 pounds (43%)
Head: 19" (75-90%)

Borne is all over the place all of the time.  He's either running or climbing.  He has found that he loves to climb up on our table (we have a high top table).  He is so strong and can pull himself up on pretty much anything.  We have to stay on top of where he is otherwise he'll be on the table, standing up, trying to jump up and down.

Here's a few pictures:
Sorry about the booger in his nose!

Borne loves Ian!  He'll follow him all around the house
Lately Borne has been showing more interest in books.  He'll try to turn the pages and read through them.

I even caught him reading a book in his little rocker!  So serious!

Life's Little Instruction Book

We have been deep cleaning our basement for the last couple of weeks.  We are doing so for a couple different reasons: 1) We just have to much junk and need to get rid of some of it and 2) so that we can start finshing it.  We've lived in our house for almost 5 years and we are ready to have a finished basement!

As we were cleaning last weekend I came across this little book tucked away in a box.

I really thought nothing of it until I opened it and saw this:

Amy who is now my sister-in-law (we married brothers!) must have given this book to me for graduation.  I don't recall getting it at the time.  It probably did not mean as much as it does know.

As I started flipping through the pages Amy highlighted certain ones and would draw cute little designs or make a note.  It's so much fun to see which ones she thought were good to highlight.  She picked some good ones!

I think this present is more valuable now (almost 12 years later) than on the day she gave it to me because many of the 511 suggestions, observations, and reminders on how to live a happy and rewarding life are more necessary now than ever before.  12 years later I work full time while trying to raise 2 kids and be a good wife.  Sometimes just that last statement is overwhelming and add on everything else - 2 houses, 2 dogs, bills, vacations, holidays, time for me, etc, etc, etc. life can get away from me.

Over the last 3 months I've really been trying to take a look at me and see what I can do for myself to be happier!  Please don't get me wrong - I'm pretty darn happy with how my life is right now - but I feel like there should be more.  I know that's stupid to say because there are a ton of people that don't even come close to what I have but you know what I deserve it and the people around me deserve it too.

This little book has fallen back into my lap at a very perfect time.  Now I have to decide where I want to keep it so that I look at it more often - I don't want to run across it again in 12 years!

Here is a picture of Amy and I when we worked at Baskin Robbins together in high school.  I know you are all very jealous of our hats!

Here we are together at Brad & Liz's wedding in Sep of 2004!
So thank you Amy for giving me a very good graduation present that I'm enjoying greatly 12 years later!!!

Family Pictures

My brother Marcus and his family made a trip back to Nebraska over Thanksgiving and we got pictures taken to give to our parents for Christmas. We went to the state capitol for a new background look. It was a little interesting with three young kids but I think we got some good pictures and my parents were happy to have pictures of all of us together.
Our little family!

Me with my brothers, Marcus and Daniel.  It's probably been at least 10 years since we got a picture taken together.
The Kershaw cousins.  Cache (8 months), Ian (5 1/2 years) and Borne (1 year old)
The entire group!
This is pretty much what we did the entire time - chased Borne down!
Daniel took a few silly pictures with Ian!

11:11 on 1/11/11

It's 11:11 on 1/11/11.  I think this means everyone needs to make a BIG WISH.  For some reason I've always been one to say "It's 11:11 - make a wish!"  So today I figure it's extra special since there's a few extra 1's in the date!

When I was first pregnant with Borne for some reason I would see 11:11 almost everyday.  It was weird.  Karis had said my body had an internal alarm and for some reason 11:11 was my time.  Some days when I see 11:11 on my computer or phone I'll email Karis and say "11:11 - make a wish!"  It always makes me happy for some reason.  Maybe it's just the fact that I'm taking a second to really think of something for me - something I'm wanting to happen, something I've been thinking of - and make a little wish about it.

I think I'll forever say it so if I'm ever around you and I say these magic words - just smile!  I'm sure some will think I'm weird but you know what I don't care.  This little thing makes me happy so I'll continue to do it!

So it's probably still 11:11 after you've read this so make today special and make a wish and even it's it's not just make a little extra wish for yourself today - you're worth it!

Where have I been?

Have any of my devoted readers been wondering where I've been?  Probably not since most of you see me fairly often but I am sorry that I've neglected our blog.  The end of November and December were filled with happy and sad moments and for some reason I just did not feel like sharing.  I'll try to catch you up with some of the stuff that happened over the last month and a half and see what the new year has to bring for the Nebesniak's.

Chris is going to hate that I posted this picture but I like that we got it taken.  Just me and him - it never happens anymore.
