Borne's 3 year check up

We had Borne's 3 year check up on the 15th.  Here are his stats:

Height - 37 3/4 inches - 58%
Weight - 30.4 lbs - 36%
BMI - 15.04 - 10-15%
Blood Pressure - 82/48
Pulse - 96

At some point the doctor said "and no shots today" and Borne replied with a very sad "ohhhh."  I thought it was pretty funny that he wanted to get a shot.  I don't think he really remembers what a shot means besides getting a fun prize at the end.

The doctor said Borne looks great - very healthy.  We talked a little about his speech as he's still a little delayed.  We'll continue on with private speech, LPS teacher and starting Monday preschool!

I see big things happening for this guy as he travels to turning 4!

Borne is 3!!

Yesterday (10-13) Borne turned the big three.  He was excited all day long and when we brought his train cake home he stared at it for at least 30 minutes and keep asking if we could open it.

The last couple of weeks when we asked Borne what he wanted for his birthday every time he said choo choo train.  So he got a train cake and got a couple of train sets from people at his party.  He made out like it was Christmas at his party.  He'll be good with new toys for a while.

It seems like Borne has been 2 forever for some reason and we are excited to see what Borne is like at 3.  Over the last year Borne has grown into a little man.  Sometimes I think he's still so little partially because he still has trouble with his speech but as that continues to improve I keep remembering that's he's no baby anymore.

Borne loves to play with Ian and Evie although both can get pretty annoyed by him!

Borne still challenges both Chris and I daily.  He is a very strong willed little boy and passionate about everything.  This includes how his shirt feels on his back to what he is eating.  When we have these challenging times I try to remind myself that someday these are qualities that are going to turn him into a man and I have a feeling these are the qualities that are going to prove Borne to be successful in what ever he's doing.  I don't think anyone is ever going to walk over Borne.  I also read an article about how little boys that show every emotion are boys that don't keep things bottled in only to explode in the future and usually in harmful ways.  But when we are in these troubled moments it's hard to think of anything but the moment.  So we are hoping in his 3rd year we'll continue to understand Borne more and lose a few challenging days!!

Borne starts preschool next week and he's thrilled.  I think it's going to be so good for him in so many ways.  I'll try and be good and blog about it!  He even got a birthday card in the mail from his new friends - he was pretty darn excited to get it!

Birthday Cake!
At the pumpkin patch today!

A couple of weeks ago Borne found these fake teeth - so funny.  Also he would not stop wearing Ian's book bag around the house - he's ready for school!

Another one of him and Ian at the pumpkin patch today.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that Borne is already 3 years old but he's the cutest kid with a huge personality that I love dearly.  Happy Birthday Borne!

9 YEARS!

When you think about 9 years - it's pretty darn long.  And today we mark 9 years of marriage - Chris and I.

Pretty fun stuff!

I'm very much looking forward to the many more years to come but next year celebrating 10 will be extra special for some reason.  I've always looked out and said "for our 10 year..." - not really sure why but it will come and it will be special like all of the rest!

Over the 9 years of marriage and 8 years of dating I think the thing that I've learned the most is I can count on Chris.

I can count on Chris to..

-make me smile
-calm me down
-hold my hand
-give me a hug when I need it most
-annoy me (sometimes it's funny)
-make me mad (sometimes I might be over-reacting!)

-love me
-support me
-be a wonderful dad

I can count on Chris to be by my side for everything that happens in our lives everyday.  I think I love him more everyday (I never thought that could happen!).

I could only hope that any married couple could feel the same love I hold in my heart for Chris!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Here's a cute picture of us from a wedding last weekend - Congratulations Emily & Zach!

Evie - 6 months old

Hard to believe it's been half of a year since our little Evie joined our family (and really it's almost been 6 1/2 months - this mom has been really bad about updating this blog!).

Evie is so much fun right now.  She's really starting to interact with all of us!  The boys love to make her laugh and I'm pretty sure she's rather laugh at them than me and Chris.  As soon as we put Evie on the ground she's all over the place.  She does a roll, sit up, roll thing to get all over.  So this week we got out the baby gate to put up!

Evie has been sitting up on her own for about 3 weeks now - it happened pretty fast and then just this weeks she's really trying to pull herself up on things so she's standing.  I have a feeling we are going to have an early walker like Borne.  I think she just wants to keep up with her brothers!

She is such a good sleeper.  Normally she'll go to bed around 7:30-8:30pm and sleep until 7:00am.  Last night she did wake up at 1:00am for a 4 oz bottle and that's the first time I've woken up with her in a really long time.  Seriously maybe like May?  She's a GOOD sleeper!

She loves baby food.  We started feeding her veggies in the last couple of weeks and she just gobbles them right up.  I think her favorite so far might be sweet potatoes or squash.  But pretty much anything we put in front of her she'll eat!

We are trying to transition from soy formula to milk formula.  So far it seems to be going really good!

We visited the doctor last week and here are her stats:
Height: 25 1/2 - 24%
Weight: 15 lbs 3oz - 28%
Head: 17 1/4 - 75-90%

So she continues to stay on the smaller side but proportionally she's just perfect!

Evie has a great little personality and is really laid back.  She just goes along with whatever we are doing - unless she's really hungry or tired - she'll let you know!

Here are a few pictures from her 6 months photo shoot.

Thanks Aunt Chelsea for the cute pink tutu outfit!

4 months

Evie is now four months old and is getting to be so much fun.  She interacts with us so much and it's fun the more her little personality develops.  She is a pretty laid back kid and not much bothers her.  She did have her 4 month appointment yesterday and she was not very happy after 2 shots but is better today.  Here are her measurements:

Height: 24 1/4 inches - 36%
Weight: 13 lbs 6oz - 30%
Head: 16 3/4 inches - 90-95%

In the last week Evie has been rolling around like a mad woman.  When we were at Trevor and Shannon's house on Father's Day she rolled about 5 feet across the room.  I think she likes being able to move.  When she's on her stomach she's already pulling her legs up like she wants to crawl.  We are wondering if she's going to be like Borne and walk at 8 months.  We'll see!

Evie is still a really good sleeper.  Last week she went through a little phase where she got up once in the middle of the night but was back to her normal 8pm-6am sleeping pattern.  Sure is nice having a good sleeper!

She loves to look around and especially at her brothers.  There are so many time she'll be in her swing or bouncer and she's looking all around for someone to look at and many times the boys don't mind sitting in front of her and making funny faces at her.  That will almost always get a giggle out of her.  She's already hooked on her older brothers.

There's been an adjustment having three kids around the house but overall with Evie's laid back personality it's been pretty darn easy and a lot of fun. Although when I'm home alone with all three after a day of work like tonight I might yell once or twice! :)

Here are some phone pictures of Evie over the last couple of weeks.

This is Evie's mobile I finally finished.  I started it when I was 7 months pregnant.  It was a slow process but I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Evie is 3 months old

On May 16th Evie joined the three month club.  Lots is happening in our world and little miss Evie is along for the ride and showing us lots of new things.

She is sleeping through the night and has been for about three weeks.  She normally goes to bed anywhere between 8:00pm-10:00pm but it's normally around 8:30pm.  And almost like clock work she is up between 5:50-6:10 each morning. Every once in a while she'll surprise us at 5:00 but not very often.  She's my little alarm clock!! :)

She has started to giggle.  It's so cute and we love when it happens.

She kind of babbles as well and she loves putting her lips together and blowing.  I think she's trying to imitate us.  Chris even got a picture the other day.

Evie is really starting to fill out. She's getting chubby cheeks!  Here's a picture in the car seat.

She started daycare and I'm back to work.  She's been doing good at daycare!  Kind of starting to get in a routine for Amanda!

Overall Evie is a pretty darn happy girl!!

All About My Mom by Ian

Ian wrote this at school for mother's day.  The underlined words are what he filled in.  I'm spelling just like he is because it makes it that much better.

My mom's name is mel.*
She has brown hair.*
She has brown eyes.
She is 39 years old.+
She weights 800 pounds.+
Her favorite color is yelloy.*
Her favorite animal is me.*
Her favorite T.V. show is facked or faked. (fact or faked)
She likes to play with me.*
She doesn't like to get angry.*
She is really good at paing bills. (paying bills)+
She isn't very good at stoping my little brother.*+
She likes when I am good and sleep when I'm supost to.*
She doesn't like when I am bad.*
I like when my mom gives me kisses.
I don't like when my mom yells at me, but I still love her.

I have to say a lot of this is true - I put little stars by the ones I'd have to agree with!  I got some pretty good laughs out of the ones with + signs in front.  I guess I need to let him know how old I really am otherwise people are going to think I'm a lot older (well maybe I can use that to my advantage - maybe they will think I look a lot younger!).  Also need to start teaching him how pounds work!  I guess all of the time I spend paying bill is paying off!  And yes I do often have a hard time getting Borne to stop doing things.

I think this little piece of paper will be so much fun to look at in 20 years.  I almost want to try and remember to have him do it every year to see how his answers change year to year.

At the bottom of the page it said this is what she looks like.  Here's the picture he drew.

Ian is 7!

Wow!  It's hard to believe 7 years ago Ian surprised the heck out of us arriving 9 weeks early.  He is growing up a wonderful kid and makes us smile often (and not smile every once in a while too!).  Ian had his 7 year check up this morning.  He was 4'3" tall (95th %) and he weighed 78 lbs (98th %). So a big boy we got!

Here's a picture of all three kids last week that Chris got on his phone.

Well Checks

Evie had her 2 month well check and Borne had his 30 month.  Borne's check was much easier.  Just a questionnaire and a quick check and talk.  Evie had the questionnaire, check and talk also but she needed shots as well.  They are testing a new shot that includes two shots in one but in order to get it you have to have blood work done so they tried to get blood out of both of her arms but could not find the vein in either.  So she got majorly poked in both arms and then ended up getting three shots instead of two.  Poor girl was exhausted from screaming by the time we left.  She slept the entire afternoon but then woke up not very happy.  A little tylenol and a long walk in the moby and she was ready to eat.  She ate really good and then slept through the night.  Hopefully the next round of shots will go a little better!

Here are the kids' stats:

Borne
Height: 36 inches - 53%
Weight: 29.8 pounds - 48%

So he's right in the middle and doing good!

Evie
Height: 22 inches - 18%
Weight: 10.12 pounds - 26%
Head: 16 inches - 95-97%

The doctor said - she's just a little petite thing (not sure where she got that from!).  The doctor said she's small but in relation to each other she's perfect so nothing to worry about.  She's out cute little girl!! She's staying a baby a little longer for her mom!!

Dying Easter Eggs

We had fun coloring and dying Easter eggs outside!

Evie hung out in the moby and slept the entire time.

Borne & Ian had fun coloring the eggs before dying them.

Brothers!!

All of our pretty eggs!

Evie - 2 months old

Evie celebrated her 2 month birthday in FLORIDA!!  This is why this post is 4 days late!

Evie is getting so big and is so much fun.  Everyday her little personality shows more and more.

Here's a few things about our little miss Evie:
-She is a wonderful little sleeper.  She has slept through the night probably a dozen times now (4 nights while on vacation! Now that's a little vacation for mommy!)
-Evie loves her bouncy seat.
-She loves to nurse - or at least when mommy has not had milk!  I gave up milk for about 3 weeks and then over Easter decided to add it back into my diet - Evie did not like it at all - we had about 3 days of fussiness and spitting up before I decdied to take it out of my diet again.  I have had small does of milk (butter, ranch) since then and it does not seem to bother her but when I have straight up milk (ice cream, coffee drinks) she does not like it so I'll continue to try and keep it out of my diet and try to introduce it again in a couple of weeks.
-Evie loves her paci already!  There are many times when she is fighting sleep and she acts like she wants to nurse but as soon as I put her on she has trouble so I just give her paci and she is out pretty quickly.  The boys love to help by giving her the paci!
-She loves the moby wrap.  Buying the moby wrap was a little splurge on my part and I must say it was the best investment.  She loves it and pretty much anytime she's in it she falls asleep.  Now if we can just get daddy to wear it! :)
-Ian likes to read to Evie.  Ian loves to read in general but lately has started to read to Evie - it's pretty darn cute.
-Just this morning Borne burped Evie all by himself.  He loved it.  I had just got done feeding her and put her on my should to burp her and he came over and starting to pat the air so I asked him if he wanted to burp Evie.  He said yes and when I moved her so he could pat her back he put his arms out like he wanted to hold her and do it so I put Evie on his shoulder and he held her with one arm and burped her with the other.  He only patted her two times and was done but he was so proud and followed with a big kiss on her head!

-Evie experienced a lot of firsts this week with our trip to Florida.
  • first plane ride (along with the boys!) and did wonderful.  She slept through most of the flights but a few times was awake and checking things out.
  • Sea World
  • Disney World
  • a swim suit and the pool
It's so hard to believe that Evie is already 2 months old but she is a sweetheart and we all love her so much.

A couple pics from vacation!

Borne's Hair Cut

Borne had not had his hair cut for a very long time.  We were kind of liking it long but thought it was time for a cut so Chris got him trimmed up.  We think he looks super cute with his short hair!

Evie's Wall

We finally got Evie's wall pictures hung.  I ordered 3 of them.  Karis made us the super cute date/name/birth info one and then the giraffe and elephant are cards we received in the mail (I thought they were so cute they deserved to be framed! So thanks to my Aunt Denise and our friends Zach and Emily!)

I'll get a picture of her name letters on the wall also one of these days!

Evie is One Month Old

It's pretty darn hard to believe that Evie is already a month old.  It seems like the last 4 weeks have flown by.

Evie is growing like a weed!  Just this week she starting smiling at us - so adorable!

A few things about Evie at one month old:
-She likes to be sitting up - seeing what's around her.
-She likes to be burped a lot and usually pretty hard.
-She is a really good sleeper.  Normally she'll sleep anywhere from 2-5 hours at a time especially during the night.
-We think she might have a slight milk intolerance so I'm taking milk out of my diet to see if it helps or if there are just some small windows during the day that she's kind of colicky.
-I also don't think she likes when I drink caffeine so no more of that. :(
-She has some major baby acne going on right now.  Poor girl - I'm hoping it means later in life she won't have acne.  (that would be great if that's how it really worked!)

We are loving having a little girl in the house and can't wait to see all of the changes in the coming month!

Here are a few pictures I took of her this morning in her crib!
