Borne's 3 year check up

We had Borne's 3 year check up on the 15th.  Here are his stats:

Height - 37 3/4 inches - 58%
Weight - 30.4 lbs - 36%
BMI - 15.04 - 10-15%
Blood Pressure - 82/48
Pulse - 96

At some point the doctor said "and no shots today" and Borne replied with a very sad "ohhhh."  I thought it was pretty funny that he wanted to get a shot.  I don't think he really remembers what a shot means besides getting a fun prize at the end.

The doctor said Borne looks great - very healthy.  We talked a little about his speech as he's still a little delayed.  We'll continue on with private speech, LPS teacher and starting Monday preschool!

I see big things happening for this guy as he travels to turning 4!

Borne is 3!!

Yesterday (10-13) Borne turned the big three.  He was excited all day long and when we brought his train cake home he stared at it for at least 30 minutes and keep asking if we could open it.

The last couple of weeks when we asked Borne what he wanted for his birthday every time he said choo choo train.  So he got a train cake and got a couple of train sets from people at his party.  He made out like it was Christmas at his party.  He'll be good with new toys for a while.

It seems like Borne has been 2 forever for some reason and we are excited to see what Borne is like at 3.  Over the last year Borne has grown into a little man.  Sometimes I think he's still so little partially because he still has trouble with his speech but as that continues to improve I keep remembering that's he's no baby anymore.

Borne loves to play with Ian and Evie although both can get pretty annoyed by him!

Borne still challenges both Chris and I daily.  He is a very strong willed little boy and passionate about everything.  This includes how his shirt feels on his back to what he is eating.  When we have these challenging times I try to remind myself that someday these are qualities that are going to turn him into a man and I have a feeling these are the qualities that are going to prove Borne to be successful in what ever he's doing.  I don't think anyone is ever going to walk over Borne.  I also read an article about how little boys that show every emotion are boys that don't keep things bottled in only to explode in the future and usually in harmful ways.  But when we are in these troubled moments it's hard to think of anything but the moment.  So we are hoping in his 3rd year we'll continue to understand Borne more and lose a few challenging days!!

Borne starts preschool next week and he's thrilled.  I think it's going to be so good for him in so many ways.  I'll try and be good and blog about it!  He even got a birthday card in the mail from his new friends - he was pretty darn excited to get it!

Birthday Cake!
At the pumpkin patch today!

A couple of weeks ago Borne found these fake teeth - so funny.  Also he would not stop wearing Ian's book bag around the house - he's ready for school!

Another one of him and Ian at the pumpkin patch today.

Sometimes it's hard to believe that Borne is already 3 years old but he's the cutest kid with a huge personality that I love dearly.  Happy Birthday Borne!

9 YEARS!

When you think about 9 years - it's pretty darn long.  And today we mark 9 years of marriage - Chris and I.

Pretty fun stuff!

I'm very much looking forward to the many more years to come but next year celebrating 10 will be extra special for some reason.  I've always looked out and said "for our 10 year..." - not really sure why but it will come and it will be special like all of the rest!

Over the 9 years of marriage and 8 years of dating I think the thing that I've learned the most is I can count on Chris.

I can count on Chris to..

-make me smile
-calm me down
-hold my hand
-give me a hug when I need it most
-annoy me (sometimes it's funny)
-make me mad (sometimes I might be over-reacting!)

-love me
-support me
-be a wonderful dad

I can count on Chris to be by my side for everything that happens in our lives everyday.  I think I love him more everyday (I never thought that could happen!).

I could only hope that any married couple could feel the same love I hold in my heart for Chris!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Here's a cute picture of us from a wedding last weekend - Congratulations Emily & Zach!

Evie - 6 months old

Hard to believe it's been half of a year since our little Evie joined our family (and really it's almost been 6 1/2 months - this mom has been really bad about updating this blog!).

Evie is so much fun right now.  She's really starting to interact with all of us!  The boys love to make her laugh and I'm pretty sure she's rather laugh at them than me and Chris.  As soon as we put Evie on the ground she's all over the place.  She does a roll, sit up, roll thing to get all over.  So this week we got out the baby gate to put up!

Evie has been sitting up on her own for about 3 weeks now - it happened pretty fast and then just this weeks she's really trying to pull herself up on things so she's standing.  I have a feeling we are going to have an early walker like Borne.  I think she just wants to keep up with her brothers!

She is such a good sleeper.  Normally she'll go to bed around 7:30-8:30pm and sleep until 7:00am.  Last night she did wake up at 1:00am for a 4 oz bottle and that's the first time I've woken up with her in a really long time.  Seriously maybe like May?  She's a GOOD sleeper!

She loves baby food.  We started feeding her veggies in the last couple of weeks and she just gobbles them right up.  I think her favorite so far might be sweet potatoes or squash.  But pretty much anything we put in front of her she'll eat!

We are trying to transition from soy formula to milk formula.  So far it seems to be going really good!

We visited the doctor last week and here are her stats:
Height: 25 1/2 - 24%
Weight: 15 lbs 3oz - 28%
Head: 17 1/4 - 75-90%

So she continues to stay on the smaller side but proportionally she's just perfect!

Evie has a great little personality and is really laid back.  She just goes along with whatever we are doing - unless she's really hungry or tired - she'll let you know!

Here are a few pictures from her 6 months photo shoot.

Thanks Aunt Chelsea for the cute pink tutu outfit!

4 months

Evie is now four months old and is getting to be so much fun.  She interacts with us so much and it's fun the more her little personality develops.  She is a pretty laid back kid and not much bothers her.  She did have her 4 month appointment yesterday and she was not very happy after 2 shots but is better today.  Here are her measurements:

Height: 24 1/4 inches - 36%
Weight: 13 lbs 6oz - 30%
Head: 16 3/4 inches - 90-95%

In the last week Evie has been rolling around like a mad woman.  When we were at Trevor and Shannon's house on Father's Day she rolled about 5 feet across the room.  I think she likes being able to move.  When she's on her stomach she's already pulling her legs up like she wants to crawl.  We are wondering if she's going to be like Borne and walk at 8 months.  We'll see!

Evie is still a really good sleeper.  Last week she went through a little phase where she got up once in the middle of the night but was back to her normal 8pm-6am sleeping pattern.  Sure is nice having a good sleeper!

She loves to look around and especially at her brothers.  There are so many time she'll be in her swing or bouncer and she's looking all around for someone to look at and many times the boys don't mind sitting in front of her and making funny faces at her.  That will almost always get a giggle out of her.  She's already hooked on her older brothers.

There's been an adjustment having three kids around the house but overall with Evie's laid back personality it's been pretty darn easy and a lot of fun. Although when I'm home alone with all three after a day of work like tonight I might yell once or twice! :)

Here are some phone pictures of Evie over the last couple of weeks.

This is Evie's mobile I finally finished.  I started it when I was 7 months pregnant.  It was a slow process but I'm pretty happy with the outcome.
