...on May 10th, 2005, Ian Mackinley Nebesniak was born at 8:08pm weighting 5.05lbs. He was 9 weeks early. He tells people "he just couldn't wait any longer to meet his mommy and daddy." We'll never know the reason he came 9 weeks early but it was the best day of our lives and also one of the scariest as well.
When I think back to the day that Ian was born so many emotions run through my body. I remember when he finally came out and the doctor held him up and said "it's a boy" and then he was gone. I was so anxious to see him and when I finally got to go to his room around midnight I feel in love with this little baby boy instantly but at the same time felt so helpless as he laid there with all of the tubes. He was so tiny and so fragile. I just wanted to hold him but I was so scared to even touch him because I felt like I'd hurt him. Although it was not a normal way to meet your new baby - we were overjoyed - we had a son!
Those 4 1/2 weeks we spent in the hospital with Ian had ups and downs. I remember the small victories - getting the tube taken out so we could hold him and hear him cry. It was the best sound in the world. But there were many setbacks and many drives home from the hospital with tears running down my eyes.
Luckily for us Ian is a fighter and today you'd never know that his birth day was kind of crazy!
During the last 6 years Ian really has been the sweetest and best little boy a mom and dad could ask for. He's so smart and asks a million questions so that he can completely understand.
Ian at 6 loves:
-dinosaurs. Almost every Wednesday he brings home a book from the school library that has to do with dinosaurs.
-star wars. Ian can pretty much turn any conversation into a star wars conversation. He knows more about star wars than I ever will.
-legos. He loves to build from directions but then also just build from his own ideas.
-his family. He loves Borne and is the best big brother. He's always trying to help him and he loves to chase him around the house! He loves playing with his cousins!
-laughing & being silly
-school. He's learned so much in the last year. I can't believe how he can read almost anything. He's so smart (got his brains from his dad - the super successful scientist!).
-pretending. Ian loves to pretend - really with anyone that will play along. It's always so fun to watch!
There's so much to my little boy it's so hard to even make a small list - I could be here all night! God was good to me the day that he gave me Ian. My little boy is growing up! Happy Birthday Ian!! :)

18 month checkup
Borne had his 18 month check up on Monday.
Here are his measurements:
Height - 32 1/2" - 55%
Weight - 22lbs 12oz - 12%
Head - 19 1/4" - 75-90%
As you can see he is still small. As the doctor said "he's a lean little boy." I was a little worried about the 12% for his weight but the doctor said he's on a continuous increase (small increase but an increase all the same). If he were losing weight or on a plateau we should be worried so I guess we'll just see how the next 6 months go!
One thing that our doctor was a little worried about was Borne's language. Borne really only says "uh oh." He used to say mama and dada but does not anymore. Our doctor is worried that all of the ear infections may have caused some problems. So next week we are going him in to get evaluated and we'll see if we need speech therapy or other stuff from there - wish us luck!

He has my Heart!
This little guy got a piece of my heart the first day he entered this world and as he gets bigger he keeps surprising me!
There is so much to love about this baby boy - but man he also knows how to push every button. Just look at that face. Have to love it - but you can see he's up to something!
It's so hard to believe that my baby is 18 months old today. Seems like yesterday we came home with him. But at the same time it seems like we've been a family of four forever.
Here are some things about Borne at 18 months old:
- He loves the outdoors. I think Borne would stay outside all day long if we'd let him. If you are ever around our house about the time it's time to go in you'll hear how mad Borne can get! Since we've had some good weather lately it's been hard to hear this but maybe one of these days he'll figure out that tomorrow he can go back out!
- He can climb almost as good as spiderman. This is no joke. Borne can pretty much climb up anything and he'll do it in a blink of an eye. There have been many times when I'm sitting on the couch and I see him heading towards the dining room table and I'll turn back to the TV and right back around and he's already on top of the kitchen table with the biggest grin ever. Then we go through the entire process of screaming and kicking while I put him on the ground. Most of the time he'll turn right back around and do it again with seconds. I know our babysitter Amanda will be happy when he gets over the idea of being on top of the kitchen table is so much fun!
- He is a strong little boy. You can let him hang from a pole and he'll just hold on and many times even swing his legs up so they are parallel to the ground. Every time he does it I'm amazed. I have a feeling Borne is going to be an athletic kid. This is probably part of the reason he can climb so fast - he just lifts himself right up!
- Borne is a daddy's boy. There have been a couple different times where Chris will be holding Borne and Borne will turn to me and wave bye-bye. It's like he's saying "I'm with dad now - you are free to leave." And almost every night when we get home and Borne turns to see Chris for the first time there is always a huge smile and little legs that are running to get a daddy hug. I love that moment every night!
- Borne does not stop until we make him go to bed at night. He is always on the go and won't stop until we make him.
- Borne likes to sleep in his own room with his fan running while laying on his dog pillow holding his blanket. We've found out in the last couple of weeks that if he's not sleeping at home we usually have issues - the biggest issue being that anyone in the house where we are staying is not getting any sleep either.
- He loves his big brother. Ian can get Borne to smile and laugh pretty much anytime. Although they already have a few battles here and there - I think they will be the best of friends growing up!

Ian's Report Card
We got Ian's 3rd report of the year yesterday. As a proud parent I have to share. He's doing really good at school. It's hard to believe that in 7 weeks he'll be finished with Kindergarten. The year has gone so fast.

Cousins
A cute picture of the cousins at Vic's funeral.

Marlee, Ryker (2nd cousin!), Deni, Ryder and Ian. These guys had fun hanging out together for most of last week. Although we would have liked it to be under different circumstances they did have fun together - and hopefully we'll have memories to share forever!
