4th of July

Since we were in Canada over the 4th of July we did not get to celebrate with any fireworks this year.  But our daycare provider Amanda had the kids do a little craft and make tie-dye t-shirts.  She then got this adorable picture of the boys in their shirts - very festive!

AdventureLand

We took a little family vacation this last weekend to AdventureLand.  Ian had a blast and one day at the park was just not enough.  Borne did good (after a nap!).

We had to wait for the doors to open so Ian checked out the map to see where he wanted to go!

One of the first rides Ian took with Daddy and he loved it!

After the nap Borne started on the carousel and really enjoyed it - so much he threw a fit when I took him off.

Walk

Tonight I thought me and the boys could take a little walk to the store. We need just a few things for the week so thought it would be good to get out of the house and some exercise. I tried putting Borne in the strolled and he immediately threw a fit. It's his way or the highway lately. I figured it would he okay for a little while then he'd get in. Well 5 blocks later he was still not ready for the strolled so we turned around. We'd still be walking!  But on the way home Ian decided he was going to ride in the strolled so of course Borne was interested. So this was how the way home looked.

Thanks,
Melanie

Ian's knee is really hurting him. The doctor said to take it easy so why not lay and play Lego Star Wars on playstation.

...on May 10th, 2005, Ian Mackinley Nebesniak was born at 8:08pm weighting 5.05lbs.  He was 9 weeks early.  He tells people "he just couldn't wait any longer to meet his mommy and daddy."  We'll never know the reason he came 9 weeks early but it was the best day of our lives and also one of the scariest as well.

When I think back to the day that Ian was born so many emotions run through my body.  I remember when he finally came out and the doctor held him up and said "it's a boy" and then he was gone.  I was so anxious to see him and when I finally got to go to his room around midnight I feel in love with this little baby boy instantly but at the same time felt so helpless as he laid there with all of the tubes.  He was so tiny and so fragile.  I just wanted to hold him but I was so scared to even touch him because I felt like I'd hurt him.  Although it was not a normal way to meet your new baby - we were overjoyed - we had a son!

Those 4 1/2 weeks we spent in the hospital with Ian had ups and downs.  I remember the small victories - getting the tube taken out so we could hold him and hear him cry.  It was the best sound in the world.  But there were many setbacks and many drives home from the hospital with tears running down my eyes.

Luckily for us Ian is a fighter and today you'd never know that his birth day was kind of crazy!

During the last 6 years Ian really has been the sweetest and best little boy a mom and dad could ask for.  He's so smart and asks a million questions so that he can completely understand.

Ian at 6 loves:
-dinosaurs.  Almost every Wednesday he brings home a book from the school library that has to do with dinosaurs.
-star wars.  Ian can pretty much turn any conversation into a star wars conversation.  He knows more about star wars than I ever will.
-legos.  He loves to build from directions but then also just build from his own ideas.
-his family.  He loves Borne and is the best big brother.  He's always trying to help him and he loves to chase him around the house!  He loves playing with his cousins!
-laughing & being silly
-school.  He's learned so much in the last year.  I can't believe how he can read almost anything.  He's so smart (got his brains from his dad - the super successful scientist!).
-pretending.  Ian loves to pretend - really with anyone that will play along.  It's always so fun to watch!

There's so much to my little boy it's so hard to even make a small list - I could be here all night!  God was good to me the day that he gave me Ian.  My little boy is growing up!  Happy Birthday Ian!! :)

Take a look at my sister-in-law's blog.  Ian and Deni had a special wedding and this post makes me smile and giggle just thinking about them getting married!

18 month checkup

Borne had his 18 month check up on Monday.

Here are his measurements:
Height - 32 1/2" - 55%
Weight - 22lbs 12oz - 12%
Head - 19 1/4" - 75-90%

As you can see he is still small.  As the doctor said "he's a lean little boy."  I was a little worried about the 12% for his weight but the doctor said he's on a continuous increase (small increase but an increase all the same).  If he were losing weight or on a plateau we should be worried so I guess we'll just see how the next 6 months go!

One thing that our doctor was a little worried about was Borne's language.  Borne really only says "uh oh."  He used to say mama and dada but does not anymore.  Our doctor is worried that all of the ear infections may have caused some problems.  So next week we are going him in to get evaluated and we'll see if we need speech therapy or other stuff from there - wish us luck!
