Sleepy Boys

I came home from work one day to find Chris and Borne taking a little nap in the living room. It was pretty cute.
Borne was all snuggled in. I just wanted to snuggle in next to him.

South Dakota

At the beginning of June we took a little family trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. I remember going there as a kid and loving it. This trip was fun because having a crabby 7 1/2 month old. At the time Borne was teething and had a cold so there were some challenging times but Ian loved it up there and we did have a good time!

This was our first picture driving in. We had to stop and look at the 2 buffalo (can you see the two little spots to the left of Ian?). There were many more to see over the weekend.
We went on a couple hikes and Borne loved his carrier!
We stayed at the KOA campground and there were lots of things for Ian to do there. One was a huge jumping pillow. It was a lot of fun for him as well as mom and dad!
Borne in the swimming pool! They had one big pool, a little pool for babies and then a hot tub - we enjoyed all of them.
Borne and Chris hanging out in the cabin.
Me and the boys outside our cabin. This is where some of the challenging times came from. This is the cabin we stayed in and it was fairly nice but it had not water or heat. So when Borne woke up a couple times at 3 in the morning it proved challenging to calm him down, get him a bottle, and back to bed. But overall it was a fun little place to stay. I'd go back but just maybe wait a couple years!
Ian was getting tired on one of our hikes! I love the hands.
Chris and Ian climbed to the top of a rock. Ian was all about climbing on this trip. He climbed every rock he could and most of the time all by himself.
We visited Mt. Rushmore. I remember visiting as a kid but it's changed so much - not even the same place. It was very cool though. We stayed for the night lightening which was pretty neat. I would recommend it to anyone in the area!
Another hiking picture. Look no hands!
We did get a family picture when we were out hiking one day. This was at Sylvan Lake.
We also visited the Crazy Horse monument. I can't believe they've been building it since like the 40's - it's crazy. I don't know that they will have it finished in my lifetime. We also stayed for the night laser show which was cool but also a little trying since it was fairly chilly out and it was getting late.
Our trip to South Dakota was fast and furious but we had a good time and we are already talking about what we'll do the next time we go!

4th of July

Our 4th of July weekend was pretty laid back becuase of the weather and just not wanting to do a whole bunch. We did go to Trevor and Shannon's house the night of the 4th for some fun. Ian had a blast - he loves playing with his cousins!

A funny story! We were getting loaded up into the car to head to Trevor & Shannon's house and Ian says "Mom do you have something for my ears? I don't like all the noise." Ian has always been a little sensitive to loud noise - last year at 4th of July he walked around with big headphones that completely covered his ears all night becuase he did not like the noise. I asked Chris if he had anything and he said not really so we thought we'd head over there and see what happened. We got there and never said I word - I guess the loud noise of fireworks no longer bother him!

Ryder, Deni and Ian stopping for a quick photo.

Ian playing with a light saber. Sparkler time!Borne was so tired that night and ended up falling asleep outside with everything going on around him in the stroller. Such a cutie pie!

Borne Update

Borne is almost 9 months old - I'll have some stats for you after his 9 month check up on July 21st but wanted to share how much he's changed in the last month.

He went through a couple weeks of being very crabby because he was majorly cutting teeth. Right now his front two bottom teeth are in and he just popped through a top one and the other top one is right behind. I really don't remember at all when Ian got his first teeth (I know that is very sad since mom's are supposed to know and remember all of that) but for some reason it does not seem like Ian was this young - but I could be wrong! I think Borne just likes to do things a little early!!He loves his brother to death. Here's a fun picture of Borne crawling all over Ian - mostly because Ian had food that Borne wanted! You can see the determination in Borne's face - I'm going to get that food.
Borne is a mover. He has this weird one legged crawl but it gets him anywhere he wants to go. It's just to funny. And he's been pulling himself up to stand for a while know but he's an expert now. He can pretty much pull himself up anywhere at anytime. I'm just waiting for the day I look over and he just starts walking. Now this is very different from Ian. Ian was a little (a lot!) bigger than Borne and Ian just kind of laid there and rolled around a little bit. I don't think Ian really even start thinking about standing up until he was almost a year old and then he did not start really walking until he was about 14 months old. Borne is not even 9 months and you can just see it in his face that he wants to go. I have a feeling we are going to have our hangs full with this guy! Brothers being silly!
This little boy is the love of my life (along with his older brother and daddy of course!). He's so much fun and I just can't wait to see how much he changes in the next couple of months.

Colorado - Adult's Trip

At the end of June we took a trip to Colorado with some of Chris' family. It was just adults as the cabins we stay in are located in a pretty dangerous place (at least for kids.). There's rattlesnakes, cliffs, and just a lot of rocky terrain. This was our third time up there and we had a lot of fun. It's so relaxing up there. I normally get lots of books read, a good tan, and a lot of sleep. Those three things are always a good combo!
Here's a shot Chris got of some clouds moving through the area.
sky was beautiful.

This is the group that made the trip. Pat & Amy, Heath & Erin, Vic & Kathy, Chris & I and Nicki. When we got home we were very excited to see the boys. This was the first time we had been away from Borne more than overnight. Here's a picture of me reading before bed time that night. As you can see Ian was more interested in the dragon we brought him back.

New High Chair

We finally bought Borne a new high chair. I saw this one on one of the blogs I read and thought it would be nice. It's super easy to clean and folds right up with on hand (kind of like a stroller). Here's a few pictures of him enjoying it!

The one problem with this one is that there's some extra room between Borne and the tray so he can stick his feet up in the air which he does quite often.
